The East Hampton Public Library is seeking a resourceful and enthusiastic part-time Public Service Associate to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about connecting with the community through dynamic programs and outstanding public service.
Hours: Approximately 15–19 hours per week
Pay Rate: $18.99/hour
Schedule: Mondays, 9:30am-2:00pm; Wednesdays, 12:00pm-8:00pm; Fridays, 9:30am-5:00pm; every third Saturday 9:30am-5:00pm (off on Friday when working Saturday, Summer Saturdays until 2:00pm)
Responsibilities include: Planning, promoting, and hosting engaging programs for a variety of ages — from children to adults — based on the candidate’s interests and talents. Providing friendly, knowledgeable customer service at both the main circulation and children’s desks. Assisting patrons with library technology, including computers, e-readers, printing, and online resources. Supporting collection maintenance. Contributing to library outreach efforts and special projects as needed.
Qualifications: Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team in a busy, public-facing environment. Comfort with technology and a willingness to learn new digital tools. Experience working in libraries, education, programming, or customer service preferred.
