The Board of Trustees of the Library Association of Warehouse Point is seeking a full time, dynamic Library Director for an independent library located in East Windsor, CT, serving a town of approximately 11,00 residents. Our ideal candidate will be creative, flexible, experienced, motivated and welcoming to people of all ages. This position includes a broad scope of responsibilities.
The Director reports directly to the Board of Trustees and is responsible for the overall effective and efficient operation and growth of the library, budget preparation, and staff supervision. The Library Director will work in partnership with the Board of Trustees to carry out the mission of the Warehouse Point Library.
Key Responsibilities include: provide strategic leadership, create annual budget and defend budget before the Town Board of Selectmen and Town Board of Finance, work effectively with the public, officials, and organizations to foster community partnerships and collaboration, direct all Library personnel, enhance/create new library services, assist in fundraising, manage library materials, write grants, recommend, plan and direct the goals, objectives and directives of the library.
Education & Experience/Qualifications include:
- A Master’s Degree in Library Science from an American Library Association accredited institution
- Three years or more progressive library administration experience with at least one year in a supervisory position
- Strong budgetary skills
- Excellent communication skills both written and oral
- Current knowledge of automated library systems and technology
- A commitment to excellence in public service
- Valid driver’s license
Salary: This is a full time position, 37.5 hours/week with ability to work a flexible schedule. $68,000 - $75,000
