The Town of Mansfield is hiring a part-time Librarian at the main location of the Mansfield Public Library. Directly reporting to the Library Director, the part-time Librarian is involved in assisting in the development and planning of library services. This position requires an effective leader with demonstrated excellence in public programming and customer service. The part-time Librarian provides welcoming customer service to all library patrons and positively reflects Mansfield Library’s mission, vision and values to staff and public. The successful candidate should be familiar with current and emerging technologies and trends in the area of youth library services.
Total Compensation: The range of this position is $37.77 - $49.09. This position is part-time with no benefits.
Work Schedule & Location: The selected candidate will be scheduled for approximately 10 hours per week. This position requires a varied work schedule but would include 5-8PM on Thursdays, 10AM-1PM on Fridays, and 10AM-2PM on Saturdays. Additionally, this position will be scheduled for substitute hours as needed. The work location is the Mansfield Public Library, 54 Warrenville Road, Mansfield Center, CT 06250.
Training and Experience: Graduation from an ALA accredited institution with a Master’s degree in Library Science and some professional library experience preferred. Consideration may be given to candidates nearing completion of the MLIS degree or with equivalent experience, education, and training. The ideal candidate will have experience programming directly for children, teens, and/or adults, including experience conducting storytimes.
