$18-21/hour*; 19 hours per week, including evening & weekend varied hours
The New Haven Free Public Library is
seeking part-time librarians in multiple departments. This position is
an amazing opportunity for current librarians looking for extra
experience or Library Science students nearing graduation who are
interested in getting hands-on experience in a vibrant urban library
setting. The City of New Haven and the New Haven Free Public Library has
launched many Librarian’s careers from this position. This position is
highly public-focused and requires weekend hours.
- Assignment in Young Minds & Family Learning (1 vacancy):
This entails developing and delivering programs for children age 0-12
with an emphasis on early childhood programming, with a strong knowledge
of children’s literature, and providing a variety of information
services for parents and children.
- Assignment in Adult Services / Reference (1 vacancy): Will plan, develop, and deliver a wide range of programs for adults in the New Haven community. The ideal candidate will have programming and collection management experience, creativity, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills; maintain a professional commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion; and value teamwork.

*A Masters Degree in Library Science from an American Library Association-accredited institution is required for this position. Library Science students within 1 semester of completing their coursework at an ALA-accredited institution will be considered for employment at the rate of $18/hour, to be updated to the full $21/hour upon completion of their MLIS degree program.
