Substitute Reference Librarian - Windsor Public Library

The Windsor Public Library has a part-time opportunity for a knowledgeable, friendly, and tech savvy person to join our reference team. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing reference and readers’ advisory service to the public at a busy reference desk and assisting patrons with the use of library computers and personal electronic devices including e-readers and tablets.

Our ideal candidate will: Be enthusiastic, team-spirited, motivated, and organized. Communicate effectively orally and in writing with diverse customers and coworkers. Have the ability to manage changing priorities and meet deadlines. Be able to work in a fast paced, customer service environment with patience, flexibility and attention to detail.

Minimum requirements: Master’s Degree in Library Science; plus one (1) or more years public library experience. Comfort working with computers, technology and social media; proficient with MS Office Suite, Internet, and other programs as needed; familiarity with library specific applications (e.g., Innovative Interfaces ILS) a plus. Successful completion of the town’s pre-employment background and drug screening process (includes screening for marijuana).

Hours and salary: This position will work on the weekend rotation (Saturdays: 10am-5pm, Sundays: 1:30pm-5pm September through June), plus daytime and evening substitution as needed. Salary is $21- $24 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
