General Scope of Duties: Develop and implement workflows for collection, acquisition and resource sharing activities for library materials in all formats. Manage the lifecycle of electronic resources, including negotiations, trials, ordering, provision of access, payment, assessment, renewals and deaccession. Activate and authenticate electronic resources, and troubleshoot issues. Oversee acquisition of physical materials and one-time purchases. In collaboration with the Director of Library Collections, Access & Discovery, develop and oversee the collections budget. In collaboration with systems and research support colleagues, contribute to decisions regarding the online discovery system. Oversee resource sharing activities, including working with consortial partners, and incorporate resource sharing into overall collection practices. Manage two full-time staff members responsible for acquisitions and interlibrary loan.
Education and Skills: Master’s degree in library and information science, or a master’s degree in a relevant discipline. At least five years’ experience working in an academic library, with at least three years’ experience working in library collections (e.g., electronic resources, acquisitions or cataloging/resource management). Experience or familiarity with standards for acquisitions, access and use of electronic resources. Experience or familiarity with linking technology, authentication protocols and link resolvers. Excellent budgeting, analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Familiarity with interlibrary loan and resource sharing processes, and the ways in which resource sharing is aligned with overall collection management, is highly desirable. Knowledge of standard office software (word processing, spreadsheets, presentations). Knowledge of additional technological tools, such as relational databases, statistical analysis tools and/or data visualization tools, is highly desirable. Experience with integrated library systems. Familiarity with the Alma/Primo system is highly desirable.
