Position Summary: This new position is a key member of the Research & Learning Support team and will be responsible for building relationships at the University and in the broader community to expand library outreach and promote services. This position will also include reference support and liaison librarian duties to be assigned. Early-career librarians and recent MLIS grads are encouraged to apply. The Outreach and Instruction Librarian must be an innovative, enthusiastic, and user-focused individual.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
• Planning, providing, and coordinating outreach and engagement services for a diverse
community of learners and library users.
• Cultivate relationships at the University and in the broader community to promote library services.
• Works
with other Library staff, University departments, and the larger
community in developing outreach initiatives including but not limited
to campus-wide communications, library marketing, and development of
social media channels.
• Development
and maintenance of website marketing and physical signage.
• Identifying opportunities for new programs and services.
• Ongoing
assessment of outreach programs and initiatives.
• Performs academic reference consultations.
• Serves
as a library liaison to academic programs with related instruction, teaching, and collection development responsibilities.
• Serves on library committees.
• Stays current with professional development by pursuing opportunities such as conferences and webinars.
• Other
duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: ALA-accredited master’s degree in library or information science. Excellent organization and project management skills. Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills.
Preferred Qualifications: A minimum of 2 years professional librarian experience. Second master’s in another academic subject area. Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
