The Town of Southington is dedicated to serving the people of Southington. We are looking for like-minded, dynamic individuals to come and join our team. This is a professional, administrative, and technical position assisting the Southington Public Library director in planning, organizing, directing, and coordinating the operations and services of the library.
Hours: 9:00am – 5:00pm, Monday – Friday; some evenings and every third Saturday
Location: Southington Public Library, 255 Main Street, Southington, CT
Salary: $82,677; 35-hour workweek
Union: United Public Service Employee Union Local 424-Unit 11 (Supervisors)
Reports to: Director of the Southington Library and Barnes Museum

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience: 1. Master of Library Science degree from an accredited ALA institution. 2. Five years’ experience in professional public library work. 3. Three years’ experience in supervisory role. 4. Proficiency in the use of computer technologies and Integrated Library Systems, with ability to learn and use specialized computer software and hardware.
Additional Qualifications: 1. Performs research and functions independently. 2. Strong verbal and written communication skills with a high degree of attention to detail. 3. Flexible with ability to adapt to interruptions and organizational changes. 4. Remains calm in stressful situations. 5. Provides exceptions customer service to all patrons. 6. Availability to work nights and weekends, as needed. 7. Sets priorities and meets deadlines.
Physical Demands: 1. Ability to sit and stand for extended periods, 2. Ability to push, pull, and lift objects up to 25 pounds. Please see the full position posting for more details.
