The UConn Health Sciences Library presents an exciting opportunity for a full-time Data Librarian to join our team. This is a new position in the Reference Services Department, and the individual in this role will report to the Department Head. They will provide guidance, consultation, and instruction to UConn Health's research community for their expanding data management and sharing needs. The Data Librarian will champion research reproducibility and best practices by collaborating with researchers on their data management, sharing, preservation, publishing, and related workflows. This position will work closely with colleagues in Reference Services and across the Health Sciences Library to provide and expand the library's Research Data Services. In addition to these duties, they will also offer general reference services, including performing literature searches, answering reference questions, and providing one-on-one consultations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Knowledge, Skill, and Ability: Demonstrated experience providing consultations and instruction. Demonstrated knowledge of the research data lifecycle, data stewardship practices, and open science. Knowledge of data management and curation technologies, preservation principles and best practices, funder data management requirements, data services need across the research l lifecycle, and research data management issues and trends. Demonstrated experience providing reference services and literature searches using specialized databases, evidence-based resources, and reference materials in the health sciences. Demonstrated public service skills and a strong commitment to customer service. Evidence of reliable, effective, and professional interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively with an open approach to problem-solving and recommending, implementing, and supporting solutions. Some supervisory ability.

General Experience: A Master's Degree in Library Science from a school accredited by the American Library Association, plus one (1) year of post-graduate degree employment in a relevant area of professional library work. A minimum of one (1) year of experience must have been at a level equivalent to Librarian 1.

Preferred Qualifications: Minimum of two years of professional related experience. Demonstrated knowledge of metadata schema, authority control, and relevant descriptive standards. Knowledge of or experience with generalist data repositories. Demonstrated involvement in professional development. Experience in developing online instructional modules or tutorials.
