The Brainerd Memorial Library seeks an experienced leader with strong administrative and people skills. The ideal candidate must demonstrate the ability to act as partner and Library advocate with local government, townspeople, and social services, to maintain and further develop strong collaborative relationships with each. He or she will hire, manage and develop professional staff, prepare and administer the budget, facilitate fundraising, and oversee maintenance. The Library is about to begin an interior renovation project, and the director will work closely with the Board of Trustees on project oversight, while maintaining the best possible service to patrons during construction. The Library has established a reputation for friendly, helpful service among its patrons and a strong, mutually respectful relationship with local government, and maintaining these two dynamics is an essential requirement of the position.
Required: MLS degree from an ALA accredited institution. Five years of progressively responsible professional library experience.
Strongly preferred: At least three years of administrative experience.
Salary range: $75,000-$85,000 plus benefits.
