Howard Whittemore Memorial Library is seeking a creative and energetic librarian to provide innovative children's services, with an emphasis on tweens and teens. Responsible for design and implementation of inclusive programs, including publicity and promotion; collection development; conducting outreach to local schools; circulation desk duties; reference/ readers’ advisory assistance and other duties as assigned. This position requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills; the ability to work both independently and collaboratively; knowledge of current library/publishing trends and popular juvenile and YA authors and literature; an innovative approach to library programming and the implementation of current technology trends and the ability to translate patron needs and interests into effective library services. Ideal candidate will develop positive relationships with patrons and sustain partnerships with their caregivers and community members.
Qualifications: This is a 35-hour a week position, including Saturday and evening shifts. An MLS from an ALA-accredited program is required, will consider a candidate close to completion. Previous experience working with children required. Bilingual ability desired. Starting salary $47,500, with benefits.
