Applications are being accepted for the position of a Part-time Children's Library Specialist. We are looking for a candidate who is a creative, innovative and energetic customer-service-minded person. The successful candidate should love working with children, find joy in storytime, have attention to detail, be familiar with child cognitive development, and help with outreach to preschools, daycares, and schools. Ideally, the candidate can demonstrate a current knowledge of children's and young adult literature and programming, and can help purchase and maintain an up-to-date and diverse youth services collection.
This position is 17-21 hours a week with 1 weekly evening and 1 Saturday a month. (Monday 3:00-8:00pm, Thursday 12:30-6:30pm and Friday 9:30am-2:00pm. $18.00/hour) Preferred candidates will be flexible and able to fill in for other staff as necessary.
Responsibilities: Assists in the development and implementation of children’s, teens and family programs and special events. Updates children’s section of the Library website and contributes to Library social media as assigned.
Required Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED required; Associates Degree in a related field preferred. Excellent computer skills, including Word, Excel, Canva, Email, and social media are required, as well as attention to detail and the ability to work well with other team members.
