Strong computer and technology skills, and ability to teach them to the public, are essential, as are a basic understanding of reference sources and ability to quickly learn new skills. Applicants must have excellent customer service and communication skills and be courteous, friendly and welcoming to patrons both in person and over the phone.
Qualified applicants must possess a bachelor’s degree and have experience working with the public in a front-facing customer service setting. Previous library work and/or MLS or equivalent strongly preferred. Experience with III’s Sierra ILS a plus. Current MLS/MLIS students are encouraged to apply.
Hours for the position will vary but will generally be no more than 10-12/week. Regular shifts during summer months; fewer shifts during the rest of the year but opportunities for filling in for staff absences. Availability for evening and Saturday shifts is required. $18.67/hour, with increase effective July 1; no benefits.
