Library Manager, Information Services - Greenwich Library, CT

General Statement of Duties: Manages the division of the Library responsible for the Innovation Lab, patron/staff technology training, and adult, young adult, and children’s services. Reports to the Director of Greenwich Library.

Education and Experience: Master’s degree in Library Science or Information Science from an American Library Association accredited college or university, plus six (6) years of experience in a professional library in the reference or information services department including three (3) years of supervisory experience managing and directing library staff. Experience with Innovative Interfaces Sierra and BiblioCommons software preferred.

Qualifications: Demonstrated knowledge of reference resources, readers’ advisory and patron training, as well as best practices in customer service, community outreach and community partnerships. Demonstrated knowledge of emerging technologies and current methods of access to library resources. Demonstrated proficiency in the use of library-related technology applications, such as integrated library systems (ILS), electronic information systems, and downloadable content and online databases. Demonstrated oral and written communication skills. Proven ability to evaluate library services and create cost effective measures within budgetary constraints. Proven ability to establish and maintain a productive team environment and work effectively across departments. Demonstrated project management and organizational skills. Demonstrated supervisory skills. Proven ability to deal tactfully, courteously and positively with diverse constituencies.

Duties and Responsibilities: Oversees patron-facing library services including the Innovation Lab, adult, children and young adult reference services, and other specialized library services. Facilitates easy access for library users to resources in all formats. Serves on Trustee committees as assigned. Oversees library operations in the absence of the Library Director and Deputy Director as assigned. Supervises and directs staff activities. Evaluates operations, sets benchmarks and implements efficiencies in staffing, collections, materials handling and use of automated equipment and software. Prepares and presents reports and statistical analyses in regard to reference services and usage. Participates in library-wide initiatives such as collection management, patron services assessment and strategic planning. Prepares budget requests for the division and monitors the appropriate expenditure of funds throughout the year. Negotiates and implements contracts for equipment and oversees the work of vendors. Participates in community outreach to initiate or strengthen library partnerships. Keeps current with library practices relating to resource management, information resources, operational and personnel management and technology developments. Supports Town policies and philosophies. Performs related work as required. Works evening and alternate weekend hours as required.

Salary: $95,601.00 - $123,355.00 Annually
