The North Haven Memorial Library is seeking a friendly, flexible, customer-service oriented, reliable individual to join our Library team in the Adult Department. Our ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills; is able to work comfortably in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment with patience, flexibility, and attention to detail; is team-oriented, motivated, and organized; has strong computer and technology skills.
Responsibilities include: Assist at the circulation desk including Check material in/out, Register new patrons and provide orientation information, Place/process holds; notify patrons when holds are available, Assist patrons in person and over the phone, Cover books, Shelve materials and shelf-read, Additional duties as assigned.
Minimum requirements include: High School Diploma or equivalent. College degree preferred; Minimum of one (1) year of experience working in library or in a customer service environment; Interact pleasantly and effectively with the public; Computer skills, including keyboarding, basic knowledge of MS Word, websites, databases, and other electronic resources, preferred; Employee must lift/move up to 10 pounds regularly and occasionally lift/move 25 pounds Employee must have ability to push book carts weighing more than 30 lbs. on a regular basis; Experience working with III/Sierra ILS and familiarity with the Library’s online catalog is a plus.
Hours: Work schedule includes two evenings and three afternoons, with Saturdays in rotation. 18 hrs/week.
Compensation: Hourly Rate: $15.00-$17.00 per hour DOE.
