The
Mansfield Public Library is looking for a full time, entry level Youth
Services Librarian. Reporting to the Public Services Librarian (Youth),
the Youth Services Librarian performs varied professional library work
related to youth services including reference and reader’s advisory,
program planning and execution, and assisting with collection
development. Provides welcoming customer service to all library patrons
and positively reflects Mansfield Library’s mission, vision and values
to staff and public. Directs the work of subordinate library personnel
and volunteers as necessary, and may occasionally supervise staff in the
absence of senior librarians. Mansfield librarians are required to have
the knowledge, skills and ability to work in and cover other library
service areas from time to time.
The successful applicant must
have graduated from an ALA accredited university with a Masters in
Library/Information Science, however candidates who anticipate
completion of their M.L.I.S. degree no later than June 2023 will be
considered. Experience working in a public library setting or other
public service setting is preferred.
The starting salary of the
Youth Services Librarian is $65,608.00 with an extremely competitive
benefits package. Mansfield participates in the Connecticut Municipal
Employees Retirement System (CMERS), a defined pension plan, and
provides a variety of other ancillary benefits such as medical, vision,
dental, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability, tuition
assistance, and paid vacation and holidays. Town of Mansfield employees
work a 35-hour work week. Some evening and Saturday work may be
required.
