The
State of Connecticut, Connecticut State Library (CSL), has one (1)
available opportunity for a Head of Reference Services (State Library
Unit Head) in Hartford, CT, with some telework possible. This is a
full-time position working 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday,
from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Perks of the job include tuition reimbursement
and telework options based on operational need. The incumbent in this
position will report to the State Librarian, and the Unit Head’s primary
location will be the State Library and Supreme Court Building, 231
Capitol Ave., Hartford, CT 06106.
ABOUT THE POSITION: The Access
Services unit (soon to be renamed Reference Services) operates the
state's principal law library and collects, preserves, and provides
access to materials produced by the Connecticut General Assembly (CGA),
Judicial branch, Governor's office and other executive branch agencies,
the Federal Government Printing Office, and more. The Head of Reference
Services assigns and oversees staff, determines priorities, plans unit
work, establishes and maintains unit procedures, acts as a liaison with
other operating units, agencies, and outside officials regarding unit
policies and procedures, and performs related duties. Under the general
direction of the State Librarian, the incumbent will shape the unit’s
future within state government by optimizing the organizational
structure and staffing model within the unit, evaluating the unit's
collections and project priorities, developing and maintaining
relationships with stakeholders, and increasing access to materials in
traditional and electronic formats.
