Part Time Librarian I, Adult & Information Services - Ferguson Library, Stamford, CT

     HOURLY RATE: $33.71/hour
     DATE AVAILABLE: Immediately
     The Ferguson Library is seeking an enthusiastic and creative individual to join our Adult & Information Services team. The successful candidate will have outstanding customer service skills, strong reference and reader’s advisory skills, a knowledge of adult literature and programming, and the ability to work collaboratively within the department at the Main Library and with colleagues in the branches. The applicant should have experience working with people from diverse ethnic and socio-diverse backgrounds.

     DUTIES INCLUDE: Provide reference and readers advisory services to adult library users of all ages. Staff adult information desks at the Main Library and participate in training to be able to work at the public service desks in our branch locations in rotation on an as-needed basis. Provide assistance in locating and using library materials and equipment including databases, digital media and mobile devices. Assist with programs and collection maintenance activities as needed. Other duties as required by the associate director of community engagement.
     QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s Degree in Library Science or Information Science and a minimum of two year’s work experience, or an equivalent combination of education, work experience and training, preferred. Knowledge of electronic resources and digital media. Demonstrated commitment to public service in an urban public library environment. Tact and skill in working with public and staff. Ability to work individually and as a team member. Availability for evening and weekend work.
