The Town of Windsor introduces a
great opportunity for a full-time Head of Reference and Technical
Services to work at our Main Library. Connecticut’s first town is
strategically located on the beautiful Farmington and Connecticut Rivers
between Hartford and Springfield, Massachusetts and is home to over
29,000 residents and a wide array of local and corporate businesses.
The Town of Windsor is an organization made up of diverse individuals

successful leader of the busy Reference and Technical Services team, the
individual will have a strong supervisory background, ability to manage
library operations in the absence of the Library Director, considerable
knowledge of the principles and practices of modern public library
systems and programs, ability to select and oversee cataloging of
general collection of library materials, provide research and technology
assistance and reader’s advisory to patrons. Starting salary is $78,000-$82,000
depending on qualifications and experience. Town employees enjoy a

The Position:
Our successful candidate will supervise both full and part time
reference, teen and cataloguing staff, oversee adult and teen
programming, manage the adult materials collection and participate in
Town of Windsor initiatives as a member of its Extended Leadership Team.
Additional duties include budget administration, promotion of adult
and teen services and outreach to community groups.
Our Ideal Candidate will: Be
enthusiastic, team-spirited, motivated, and organized; communicate
effectively orally and in writing with diverse customers and coworkers;
have the ability to manage changing priorities and meet deadlines; be
able to work in a fast paced, customer service environment with
patience, flexibility and attention to detail; have a Master’s degree in
Library Science with six (6) or more years of experience in public
library operations; have four (4) or more years of supervisory
experience (preferred); comfort with computers, technology and social
media; proficiency with MS Office Suite, Internet, and other programs as
needed; be familiar with specific applications (e.g., Innovative
Interfaces ILS, Excel, and Publisher) a plus.
