Mitchell
College seeks an Outreach & Instruction Librarian to join its
Library & Information Services (LIS) team on our beautiful
waterfront campus in New London, CT. The Outreach & Instruction
Librarian is an essential member of a small and collaborative staff,
dedicated to creating a welcoming and inclusive library experience for
all students, staff, and faculty.
Responsibilities: This
position leads the development and delivery of information literacy
instruction and associated assessment, library programming, faculty
outreach, and student research support. Additional shared
responsibilities include staffing the library’s centralized service desk
and online chat service, collection development, electronic resource
management, and ongoing enhancement of the library’s web presence using
LibGuides.
The Mitchell College Library benefits from a strong
partnership with our Office of Information Technology and is future home
of the Digital Innovation Hub for Educational Excellence. The library
serves as the primary student and faculty support resource for
technology tools on campus including the learning management system
(Moodle), Office365, printing and WiFi, and questions about accessing
the college’s online systems. Familiarity with these tools is a plus but
enthusiasm for adopting and adapting to new technologies is a must.
Qualifications: The
qualified candidate will have a master’s degree in Library and
Information Science (MLS/MLIS) from an ALA-accredited institution, or
equivalent. MLS/MLIS candidates who have made significant progress
toward their degrees are welcome to apply.
Compensation & Hours: This is a part-time, hourly position starting at $27/hr with flexible scheduling.
