The
 Farmington Libraries seeks an experienced, innovative and enthusiastic 
library and information services professional to become our next 
Assistant Director/Adult Information Services Manager. The ideal 
candidate will bring a collaborative and engaging work style, along with
 the full spectrum of reference and information skills and experience in
 order to work with the Executive Director, the Libraries’ management 
team and our stellar full-time and part-time staff in carrying out the 
mission of the Libraries. In addition to helping administer library 
programs and services and assisting with day-to-day operations, this 
position involves some direct public services at our busy Adult 
Information Services Desk providing trusted, customized readers 
advisory, reference and technology assistance to teens, adults and 
seniors, both in-person and online.
     The Assistant Director/Adult
 Information Services Manager has overall responsibility for the Adult 
Information Services department, which includes full-time professional 
and non-professional staff, as well as apart-time professional librarian
 and part-time non-professional staff who serve in a support role.
    
 The Assistant Director/Adult Information Services Manager assists the 
Executive Director and the Libraries’ department heads with policy 
development, technology planning and implementation, marketing and 
communications, program development and outreach services to the 
community. The person in this position also coordinates the development 
of the print and non-print collections for adults and seniors, including
 a growing array of online resources available via our website, and 
supports the programming, art exhibit and display activities of our 
Adult Programming Coordinator. The Assistant Director/Adult Information 
Services Manager also supports the Adult Services staff involved in 
providing access to our Maker Space, as well as our Studio space, so 
that patrons can collaborate, create, learn and invent in a safe space 
using tools and technologies they may not otherwise be able to access. 
Since some of our Adult Services staff are currently engaged in scanning
 and digitizing our unique collection of local history and archival 
materials located in the Farmington Room at the Main Library and 
uploading them for access on the CT Digital Archives, an interest in 
supporting and helping promote local history is also preferred.
     
This position helps ensures exemplary service is provided by staff at 
the Main and Barney Libraries to all of our patrons, whether in-person 
or virtually, in order to provide barrier-free access to library and

 A Master’s Degree in Library Science is required. A minimum of 
three–five years of increasingly responsible leadership experience in a 
public library is required, and a minimum of three years of supervisory 
experience is preferred.
     Hours: 35 hours per week, including one evening per week and every third Saturday on a rotating basis.
    
 Salary: $90,000-$96,000 annually with excellent benefits, including 
paid health insurance, 4 weeks of paid vacation per year, accrued sick 
leave and 2 days of personal leave.
