JOB SUMMARY:
The UConn Library seeks a collaborative librarian to serve as our new
Archives Education and Outreach Coordinator. Under the direction of the
Head of Archives and Special Collections, the Archives Education and
Outreach Coordinator serves to support the educational mission of the
Archives & Special Collections (ASC) by coordinating faculty and
student engagement in collections-based projects across UConn’s
campuses. The Archives Education and Outreach Coordinator will work
collaboratively with ASC staff and its partners developing courses and
projects which engage students in the classroom and as independent
researchers, and promoting exhibition, digital projects, and associated
programming as key elements of ASC’s educational outreach.
Along
with all UConn Library personnel, the Archives Education and Outreach
Coordinator will demonstrate respect in all interactions within the
Library and across the University, and will exemplify the UConn Library

inclusion, and having fun.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Works closely with ASC staff to identify educational opportunities
within collections, and to develop a framework for integrating
collections-based instruction into ASC initiatives. Forges partnerships
with faculty, departments, centers, and programs on all UConn campuses
to integrate archives, manuscripts, and other primary source resources
into teaching, research, and student projects. Identifies and evaluates
ASC collections for their potential alignment with University curricular
goals, and develops instructional opportunities and materials which
meet learning objectives and program goals. Provides instruction and
develops educational programming around exhibitions, digital projects,
and other outreach initiatives.

interpersonal skills to provide excellent professional service and

across the University. Demonstrates active learning in and communication
of ongoing trends and developments related to professional and
positional responsibilities. Works effectively in current office
applications, software, and communication tools as employed by the UConn
Library and the University of Connecticut. Exhibits appreciation of,
sensitivity to, and respect for a diverse working environment, inclusive
of social, economic, cultural, ideological, gender, racial, ethnic, and
any other underrepresented backgrounds. Performs duties parallel to
position responsibilities as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A
graduate degree in library and information science from an American
Library Association-accredited institution (including international
equivalents) or any graduate-level degree in a field relevant to the
position. Minimum of three years related professional experience,
including experience with special collections, rare books, or archival
material. Demonstrated understanding of archival theory and methodology
and pedagogical techniques as they pertain to research and instruction
in rare and archival material. Strong interpersonal and communication
skills, including the ability to build and sustain key relationships
with diverse groups including faculty, staff, students, and other
professional colleagues. Excellent organizational skills, including the
ability to set priorities and keep to deadlines. Demonstrated commitment
to inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility in all aspects of
library and archives work. Demonstrated ability to actively engage with
stakeholder communities through outreach and networking paired with
proven public service skills. Evidence of sustained active engagement in
professional activities at a statewide, regional, and/or national
level. Computer skills, including the use of standard office
productivity software, archival management systems, and digital archival
systems.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Reading
knowledge in a romance language. Evidence of success in reinforcing and
promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility and working
collaboratively with individuals of diverse backgrounds, experiences,
and perspectives.

This position is a full-time role based in Storrs, Connecticut. The
University offers a competitive salary, outstanding benefits, including

upon education, qualifications, and experience.
