This is professional library
work beyond entry level. Incumbents are expected to have acquired
the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the positions
requirements at a full level of competence. The current vacant
assignment entails implementing collaborative and
active learning strategies and partnerships for entrepreneurs,
nonprofits, makers, and adult lifelong learners; offering workshops and
one-on-one instruction in emerging technologies, creative software,
entrepreneurship, and business growth; raising
awareness of resources and services through outreach efforts;
managing a special collection of resources for entrepreneurs and
non-profits; and providing innovative information services to meet the
needs of a diverse, urban adult population. The ideal
candidate will be current with the latest library, business, and
technology trends; provide reference services, career resources, and
instruct library patrons in the use of technology and maker-space
equipment; have excellent communication and interpersonal
skills; maintain a professional commitment to equity, diversity, and
inclusion; and value teamwork. Bilingual candidates are strongly

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS include: Master’s
degree in Library Science
from an American Library Association accredited library school.
Minimum of two years’ experience as a professional librarian and the
necessary knowledge, abilities and skills, in addition to those from
Librarian I, as stated in the job description,
including but not limited to: Ability to organize and maintain a
specialized library collection or service within a department;
Experience with a variety of on-line databases and the ability to apply
this knowledge in planning and implementation of
research or catalog work; Ability to evaluate and advise on the
disposition of reference questions, or on matters of cataloging
practice; Ability to instruct and train Librarian I and support staff.
