The
Killingly Public Library has an opening for a part-time Assistant to
the Children Services Librarian. This position requires creativity,
flexibility, and the ability to multitask, as well as excellent
communication and interpersonal skills, knowledge of children's and
young adult literature, and enthusiasm for working with children from
birth – age 17 and their caregivers. The assistant will work in
coordination with, and under the general supervision of the Children's
Librarian, to plan, administer, and implement services to children and
young adults.
The ideal candidate will have an associate degree
and two years of library experience and/or the equivalent experience of
working with children and young adults. Knowledge of children’s
literature, best practices in early literacy, children’s programming and
child development is essential as well as a positive attitude and
excellent interpersonal skills. This is a 25 hour a week, part-time
position, which requires flexibility to work days, nights, and
Saturdays. Pay commensurate with experience.
