Library Associate - Capital Community College, Hartford, CT

     Level: Community College Professional 14, 12-month, tenure track position.
     Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week

     Anticipated Start Date: Fall 2022
     Position Summary: The Library Associate performs and leads support staff in one or more library functions in the library or learning resource center of a Community College which provides library services to students, faculty, and citizens of the communities served by the College. These library services may include circulation; acquisitions; interlibrary loans; reserves; online copy cataloging; basic reference and readers’ advisory.
     Incumbents must possess the proven ability to effectively work with a culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and student. They are expected to have excellent oral and written communication skills along with strong Information technology literacy skills such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.)
     Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree in Library Technical Science or a subject area related to library services in the academic field; or a combination of education, training, and experience which would lead to the competencies required for successful performance of the position’s essential duties.
     Successful Candidate must have or must possess: Experience performing one or more functional areas of librarianship at a beginning professional level. Experience training and guiding library support staff. Experience interacting with library patrons.

     Preferred Qualifications: Two or more years of library experience. Library experience in an educational setting. Experience providing circulation services in a library. Experience with Interlibrary Loan programs and/or technologies.
     Starting Salary: $49,048 approximate annual* plus excellent State of CT medical insurance, retirement, and related fringe benefits. Salary Range for this level is $49,048-$89,025. (*New hires to State employment start at minimum of salary range).
