Summary:
Assists patrons in need of reference and general circulation
materials, charge and discharge materials, and handles all phases of
retrieving delinquent library items; maintains familiarity with adult
and children’s collections. Sets up circulation desk. Records daily
and monthly statistics of library usage. Handles holds for patrons.
Searches for bibliographic and patron information. Performs data input
of patron information, materials and periodicals. Remains current with
materials added to the library collection and makes recommendations to
patrons. Instructs patrons on use of library machines. Responsible for
discharging of daily book drop and sending bills for overdue items.
Checks in newspapers daily. Assists patrons in the use of reference
sources and other materials. Conducts or assists with programming
events. Assists throughout library when necessary.
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Arts Degree from a four (4) year college, with one (1)
year public library experience, OR Associate of Arts Degree from an
accredited school with two (2) years’ public library experience.
Requires excellent communication skills, and ability to maintain
effective working relationships. Computer skills that require basic
software knowledge of Word Processing, and Design software; intermediate
software knowledge of database, Internet, spreadsheet, and other
library digital resources.
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly
required to sit and talk or hear; is frequently required to stand and
reach with hands and arms; is occasionally required to stoop, kneel,
crouch, or crawl, and lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Regularly works
in indoor or office environment. Reasonable accommodations may be
made.
Classification & Work Hours:
Full-time position, 37 ½ hours per week. Schedule: 3 days a week from
8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., and 2 days a week from 12:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
September through June - work alternate Fridays and Saturdays. During
July and August - the library is closed on Saturdays; the work week is
Monday through Friday.

Salary: $21.30/hourly. (Increase to $23.32/hr. at 6 months, $23.69/hr. at 1 year.)
