Summary:
Assists in providing reference assistance, readers’ advisory,
community outreach, circulation, and programming with special emphasis
on children’s services to meet the needs of the community. Maintains
children’s collection. Searches for bibliographic and patron
information and inputs data in automated circulation system. Charges
and discharges library items; registers borrowers; records statistics.
Attends staff meetings, workshops, and professional meetings. Plans and
conducts story hours and other programs for children. Prepares
bulletin boards, book displays, and other displays. Revises and
maintains the Branch Library’s website and social media. Assists
supervisor in the training of library pages. Assists patrons in the use
of computers, personal electronic devices, and digital library
resources. May perform supervisory duties in absence of the Supervisor
of Branch Services.
Qualifications: Master’s
Degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited library school and one
(1) year relevant experience, OR Bachelor’s Degree and two (2) years’
experience. Public library experience preferred. Requires excellent
communication skills, and ability to maintain effective working
relationships. Computer skills that require expert knowledge of
database software, and intermediate software knowledge of Internet,
Microsoft Office Suite, Hoopla, Overdrive, and other digital resources.
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly
required to sit and talk or hear; is frequently required to stand and
reach with hands and arms; is occasionally required to stoop, kneel,
crouch, or crawl, and lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Regularly works
in indoor or office environment. Reasonable accommodations may be
made.
Classification & Work Hours:
Full-time position, 37 ½ hours per week. Schedule: 3 days a week from
8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., and 2 days a week from 12:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
September thru June - work alternate Fridays and Saturdays. During July
and August-the library is closed on Saturdays; the work week is Monday
thru Friday.

Salary: $24.62/hourly. (Increase to $26.87/hr. at 6 months, $27.29/hr. at 1 year.)
