Librarian for Children’s & Teen Services - Essex Library Association has been a vital community institution since
1889. Staff deliver comprehensive services and high quality programming
for all age groups. The library serves a close knit and supportive
community of more than 6,600 residents located by the scenic Connecticut
River. We maintain a physical collection of more than 37,000 items in a
welcoming and vibrant 9,550 square foot facility with dedicated
children’s and teen spaces. The library is a member of the Libraries
Online (LION) consortium.
We are seeking a creative, energetic,
and engaging professional to join our team as Librarian for Children’s
& Teen Services. The Librarian for Children’s & Teen Services
curates and maintains a collection of more than 13,000 books for
children, young adults, parents and educators. S/He provides individual
and group training for patrons and staff, coordinates outreach, programs
and services with area schools, and develops and implements high
quality programming for children and teens. S/He also provides
circulation services and coordinates social media and marketing
projects.
Qualifications: Graduate degree in
library or information science preferred; recent MLS grads and students
in their final semester encouraged to apply. Experience designing and
delivering programs for children of all ages. Self-starter with strong
initiative who can engage, encourage, develop, and sustain partnerships
with area families, schools, and organizations. Marketing, technology,
and/or teaching experience. Ability to complete projects with minimal
supervision.

Regular evening and Saturday hours required; a condensed work week is
negotiable. We offer a minimum starting salary of $58,000 annually.
