Library Services Director – Beardsley & Memorial Library. The Board of Trustees of the Beardsley & Memorial Library is seeking a vibrant, creative, and dynamic Library Services Director who is ready to continue its mission of promoting literacy, lifelong learning, and opportunities for cultural enrichment to the community. The Library, a non-profit Association Library located in the center of the town of Winsted, Connecticut, serves a population of 17,000+ residents from the Towns of Barkhamsted, Colebrook, and Winchester. Covering an area of 103 square miles, the library is at the heart of the beautiful Northwest Corner of the State. The Beardsley Library serves as a community hub with an active schedule of programs, activities, and modern library services for all generations of the diverse community.
     Responsibilities: The Library Services Director reports to the Board of Trustees and works with the Board, Business Manager, staff, and other major stakeholders to align the Library’s mission, goals, and objectives with the community’s needs and priorities. The Library Services Director is responsible for every aspect of library operations including programs and services, collection development, personnel, technology, budget, fundraising, public relations and outreach, marketing, building, grounds, equipment, and safety.
     Qualifications: A minimum of a bachelor’s degree, with preference for an MLS or master’s degree in nonprofit management or similar discipline; minimum of 5 years progressively responsible experience in a public library including two years of administrative experience. Comprehensive knowledge of present public library trends and technologies, superior communication skills, exceptional interpersonal and team building skills.      Compensation: A salary range of $51,000 to $60,000, with final placement dependent upon experience and qualifications, along with a benefits package.
