Part-Time Children's Library Assistant - The
Beekley Library seeks an innovative and creative library assistant to
join our team. This position is half-circulation and half-children's
duties.
Circulation responsibilities include assisting patrons
in-person, on the phone, and by email, checking out and registering
patrons, serving patrons with reader's advisory, answering procedure and
policy questions, providing directional reference, checking in and
shelving materials, troubleshooting computer and printer problems.
Children's responsibilities include in-person, virtual and @ your
convenience programs, planning and executing weekly and monthly programs
for children ages birth-tween, outreach programs held outside the
library, summer reading, processing and cataloging new materials.
Assists in monitoring the Children's Room and keeping it orderly and
attractive.
This position offers 33 hours per week at $16 per hour, with paid time off and no medical
benefits. The schedule will be: Mondays 12-6, Tuesdays 10-4, Wednesdays
10-6, Thursdays 10-3, Fridays 10-6 with the possibility of evening and
Saturday hours.
Candidates must have experience working
collaboratively with others, along with excellent communication skills
and a commitment to serving the needs of young library users, their
families, and caregivers. Library or children's experience is preferred.
Knowledge of current technologies applicable to libraries is essential,
and experience with Evergreen is a plus. Must possess a familiarity
with and enjoyment of children's literature and the ability to
communicate clearly, pleasantly and courteously with children and adult
patrons, as well as staff.
