Library Clerk - Kent Memorial Library. The
Town of Suffield is a quintessential New England town with a

Kent Memorial Library is seeking a knowledgeable,
tech-savvy part-time library clerk with a strong commitment to serving
the public. Must have excellent customer service and communication
skills to serve a diverse public. Performs a variety of clerical and
Library support activities for the Library by assisting patrons and
maintaining library materials and records. Serves the residents of
Suffield in a customer-oriented manner that helps promote a positive and
professional image for the Town Government.
Supervision Received: Works under the general direction of Head of Circulation or the Children’s Librarian.
Supervision Exercised: None.
Education and Experience, Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or the equivalent. College degree preferred. One
(1) year of library experience or in a customer service environment. Any
equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the
required skills, knowledge, and abilities. Relevant experience may be
substituted for education attainment if deemed appropriate by the First
Selectman.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Excellent interpersonal skills. Communication skills. Knowledge of children’s literature preferred.
Special Requirements:
Valid, active Motor Vehicle Operator’s license preferred. Must submit
to pre-employment drug and alcohol testing as well as fitness for duty
testing.
Tools and Equipment Used: Bibliomation Evergreen library system.

Hours:
This position is at will. This is a three (3) hours to fifteen (15)
hours per week, part-time, non-benefits position. Must be flexible to
include evenings and weekends. The hours may be subject to change. This
position occasionally requires long hours beyond those scheduled hours,
including monthly evening commission meetings, evening work, and weekend
work as job duties demand.
Compensation and Benefits: $14.79 per hour; this position is considered casual employment, part-time, and non-benefit eligible position.
