     Position Summary: The Librarian performs a broad range of professional responsibilities of librarianship in the library or learning resource center of a Community College providing library services to students, faculty, and citizens of the communities served by the College including teaching students and faculty in the use of such library resources as on-line access to information, bibliographic search, access to print materials and methods of research for academic course materials. In addition, the library relies to an increasing extent on computer-based information technology. Therefore, the Librarian may be assigned to provide professional information technology services.
     Incumbents must possess proven ability to effectively work with a culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and student. They are expected to have excellent oral and written communication skills along with strong Information technology literacy skills such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams etc.)
     Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in Library Science from a program accredited by the American Library Association or appropriately related discipline with one (1) year related experience in leading or supervising others; or a combination of education, training, and experience which would lead to the competencies required for successful performance of the position’s essential duties.
     Successful Candidate must have or must possess: Experience in performing the full range of professional librarianship with strong competencies in public services, reference, technical services. Experience in collection development. Experience in information technology and information literacy skills and instruction. Experience using library resources in a higher education environment.

     Preferred Qualifications: Two (2) years of related experience. Two (2) years of experience in leading or supervising others. Experience conducting assessments of student information literacy. Experience with instructional design. Knowledge of copyright and fair use in the academic library setting. Experience with video and tutorial creation tools and software. Experience with planning and hosting outreach events. Experience managing library collection and services with Alma & Primo. Experience administering Springshare systems. Experience administering electronic resources authentication. Experience with data-driven collection development.
     Example of Job Duties: Under the supervision of the Library Director, the Librarian is responsible for providing useful and helpful support to the learning mission of the College through effective performance in these essential result areas, as assigned: Public and Reference Services; Technical Services; Information Technology; Instruction; Circulation Management; and Staff Supervision.
     In addition to the accountabilities listed above, the incumbent is required to carry out the essential duties of: Attendance and participation at convocation and commencement ceremonies; Service on assigned committees and task forces; Attendance and participation at committee, staff, informational and professional meetings. These may involve attendance at evening or weekend events.

     Starting Salary: $63,093 approximate annual plus excellent State of CT medical insurance, retirement, and related fringe benefits.
