Librarian I, Children's Services - The
West Hartford Public Library, located in a vibrant and engaged
community that celebrates diversity and maintains a welcoming atmosphere
to all library visitors, seeks an innovative, enthusiastic and
energetic library professional to be part of a strong Children’s team
serving children ages infant through age 12. This is a part-time
position of between 15-18 hours weekly with weekday, evening and weekend
shifts.
Candidates must have: Thorough and current knowledge
of children’s literature, contemporary library trends and technologies.
Experience in developing, organizing, coordinating and presenting
exceptional and imaginative programming for families with children ages
infant through age 12. Proficiency in performing readers' advisory and
reference to a sophisticated community of young readers. Strong customer
service skills. Knowledge of standard public library services and
resources for all age levels including adults. Ability to assist
families with online resources and technology.
Candidates must
hold an MLS degree or have a degree completed by 12/31/21 from an ALA
accredited university. Knowledge of the Sierra ILS is preferred.
Salary is $32.82 per hour. There are no other benefits associated with this position.
