Technology Integration Specialist/Library Media Specialist - Richard D. Hubbard Elementary School, Berlin Public Schools, CT. Under
the direction of the elementary principal, the Technology Integration
Specialist/Library Media Specialist works collaboratively with the
school and district educators to plan, implement, and assess our 21st
century standards-based curriculum and promote the use of technology to
support student achievement.
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
Including but not limited to the following: Teach digital citizenship,
technology skills, research, and library skills across grades K-5.
Manage library media center as a hub of research, learning, and
creativity. This includes the library, the maker-space, and the computer
lab. Develops a climate that encourages students, teachers and
administrators to take full advantage of technology resources. Stays
current on research and findings on teaching and learning and is skilled
in applying its findings to a variety of situations—particularly those
that require students to access, evaluate, and use information from
multiple sources to learn, think, create and apply new knowledge. Works
closely with teachers to design authentic learning tasks and assessments
and integrates the information and communication abilities required to
meet standards. Creates and presents professional learning opportunities
for school and district staff. Works collaboratively with district and
school staff to define the policies of the LMC and technology programs
and guides activities related to such programs. Advocates for the
library media program as part of the overall continuous improvement plan
for the school and provides the knowledge, vision, and leadership to
implement change. Manages budget, equipment, facilities, and resources.
Continuously updates and weeds the library collection of materials that
support teaching and learning. Develops an embedded elementary school
technology curriculum, which provides all students with the required
technology proficiencies, in collaboration with district technology
integration specialists and library media specialists. Serves on
district technology committee(s), assists in aligning school and
district technology initiatives, and proactively provides insight and
guidance to administration into the latest technologies. Collaborates
with the appropriate instructional and technical staff to support,
manage, and optimize the use of instructional software and network
resources to support quality teaching and learning. Conducts research
about advancements in technology tools and resources to inform
decision-making. Other duties as assigned by the principal and district
administrators.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Holds a current
Connecticut teaching certificate as School Library Media Specialist
(062) or Librarian (048). At least four years of successful full-time
experience as a classroom teacher. Professional development experience
educating teachers or other adults in the integration of technology for
instruction and productivity using all of the following modes: modeling,
one-on-one, small group, and large group. Extensive knowledge of
literary and information literature for elementary school students.
In-depth understanding of the social, emotional, and intellectual needs
of the elementary school student. Deep knowledge of educational
technology and ability to integrate in all curricular areas. Possesses
the ability to work collaboratively and independently. Strong
interpersonal skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of
ELA/SS/Library/ISTE standards. Knowledge of learning management systems
and platforms, such as Schoology, PowerSchool, Google Classroom and
Seesaw, and teaching techniques that enhance student learning in both
face to face and distance or hybrid learning environments. Graduate
degree or other advanced education in Instruction and/or Technology
Education.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and benefits in
accordance with the negotiated agreement between the Berlin Education
Association and the Berlin Board of Education, BA 2 $48,862 - Ph.D. Max
$102,497.
