     General Purpose: Yale University Library seeks a dynamic and collaborative manager to lead the Catalog Management Unit (CMU) within the Department of Resource Discovery Services (RDS). On behalf of the Yale Library and its users, the successful candidate will guide the unit in performing catalog data quality assurance, data remediation, workflow automation, and database reporting. The incumbent will also track, analyze, and apply trends in technical services involving catalog management, copy cataloging, workflow automation, and batch data editing. This position will provide documentation, specifications, reports, and contractual oversight for vendors that provide services such as authority control and contract cataloging. He or she will be the primary liaison between CMU and the Library Shelving Facility, Access Services, and other stakeholders with which CMU works closely.

     Required Education and Experience: Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited program for library and information science and a minimum of two years of professional experience and demonstrated professional accomplishments appropriate to the librarian rank. Experience managing library technical services. Two or more years of demonstrated supervisory experience, including training and staff development.
     Qualifications: Demonstrated ability with the use of library management systems. (Yale currently uses Voyager.) Ability to plan, initiate, and implement effective programs, projects, and services. Excellent organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to solve problems and manage complex workflows. Sound skills in data analysis, remediation, and normalization. Logical and enthusiastic approach to work, with careful attention to detail, initiative, and follow-through. Evidence of ability to assess, analyze, plan, and solve problems creatively and collaboratively in a complex, rapidly changing environment. References indicating reliability and consistent professional activity in the acquisitions or cataloging areas of library science.
     Preferred Education and Experience: Demonstrated record of designing projects and bringing them to a conclusion in a timely fashion. Knowledge of authority control processes. Knowledge of SQL and database systems. Demonstrated ability in working with current and emerging metadata standards and tools, e.g., RDA, MARC, and BIBFRAME. Demonstrated knowledge of one or more languages other than English.
