Head of Adult Services - New Britain Public Library. The Head of Adult Services, Librarian
III, is responsible for the total management and operation of all
aspects of the largest library department and its integration into the
overall operations of the library. Manages all aspects of collection
development and ordering of adult materials. Develops, documents, and
implements long and short-term goals for the department. Leads staff in
providing services which meet the community’s needs. Will guide the
staff in special projects of community interest. Serves on the
Director’s Management Team to plan and coordinate library wide projects
and services. Represents the Library in the community. Requirements: MLS
from ALA accredited school of library/information science; excellent
communications skills, five years progressively more responsible
relevant experience, at least three years of supervising staff. Must
have the ability to make independent judgments, and to counsel and
mentor others. Comprehensive knowledge of adult collections and
services. Proficiency in current and emerging technologies. Knowledge of
Sierra ILS a plus. Strong commitment to excellent public service
required. This is a full-time, union position (37.5 hours per week).
Starting salary is $65,034.69 with full benefits. Some evenings and
