Senior Computer Technician - Danbury Library. $35.47
- $37.34/per hour. Full time: 35 hours per week. Statement of Duties:
Under the general direction of the Library Director, the employee is
responsible for providing expertise in executing the long-term
technology strategy in support of the Libraries’ mission. This employee
will facilitate a regular schedule of technology programming for
patrons, as well as regular staff training when necessary. This
individual will lead the support and administration of the integrated
library system software, and will collaborate with the UX Librarian
where applicable. They will maintain awareness of and implement new
technologies that support the Libraries’ research, learning and access
agendas. The candidate supervises a department including a full-time
technician and part-time clerks. Responsible for the Libraries’
computing infrastructure of staff and public access computers and AV
room/event support. Regularly communicates and collaborates with the
City’s technical staff, escalating issues as necessary.
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or
information systems or related field and three plus (3+) years of prior
related work experience in computer hardware and software technology; or
any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which
provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the
essential functions of the job in the sole determination of the City.
All pertinent certifications must be up to date.
Knowledge:
Intensive knowledge of the following programs is preferred:
Envisionware, James, printerON, Microsoft Office, Windows and Mac
Operating Systems, Vipre, Centurion, bibliotheca, Comprise, Meraki, III.
Knowledge of printer driver installation, workstation setup, network
setup and troubleshooting. VMware administration experience. Working
knowledge of firewalls, servers, networks, and operating systems. Well
versed in windows environment, Server 2008 to current.
Abilities: Ability to troubleshoot, prioritize, diagnose and resolve
computer and technology problems quickly and efficiently. Excellent
written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate to
patrons, staff, and vendors with a wide variety of technology
experience. Must possess a strong customer orientation and provide
technical support as requested and explain complex topics in layman’s
terms. Ability to work independently in a detailed and organized manner.
Ability to prioritize a large workload and multitask.
Skills:
Must be comfortable with technical writing to produce documentation
about infrastructure design, quality standards, testing procedures,
and other essential project information. Excellent customer service and
teaching skills. Ability to collaborate and communicate with a variety
of staff and patrons with varying levels of technical knowledge.
