Library Director - Richmond Memorial Library, Marlborough. The
Executive Board of the Richmond Memorial Library (RML) Association
seeks a full-time Library Director with energy and vision to begin in
Spring of 2020.
Marlborough (population 6,400) is a suburban
town located in Hartford County, with an elementary school and a
regional middle/high school system. RML was founded in 1924 and has been
a treasured community resource for ninety-five years. Our mission is to
provide access to information from a wide range of sources in a variety
of formats. Our commitment is to serve the Marlborough community’s
evolving personal, educational, and cultural needs.
RML is a
part of the Library Connection Incorporated (LCI), a consortium of 30
libraries using Innovative Interfaces’ Sierra software for all library
functions. The library is currently ranked as number two in highest
circulation-per-capita among libraries in the Capital region.
The Director is the sole full-time employee, with 10 part-time
employees. The Director is the Chief Administrative Officer for the
library and is responsible for all aspects of the operation of the
library. The Director reports to the Executive Board of the RML
Association. This position is full-time, 40 hours per week, with
occasional evening hours.
Qualifications and Experience: The
ideal candidate will have an MLS or MLIS from an ALA-accredited school
and at least five years of full-time library experience. He or she will
be proficient in staff management, supervision and administration,
familiar with emerging technologies, passionate about community
involvement, and creative in his/her approach to library work. He or she
should have experience with automated library systems in a consortium
setting. Experience with grant writing and familiarity with building
projects is preferred.
Compensation and Benefits: Salary is
commensurate with experience and expected to be within the range of
$78,000 to $88,000. This position also offers health insurance,
accruable paid sick time, paid vacation and holidays. After a year of
employment, a qualified retirement plan is an option.
