Librarian III, Adult/Reference Services - The North Haven Memorial Library seeks an enthusiastic, innovative, adaptable, and forward-thinking librarian who desires to work with a team of like-minded individuals. Needs to be self-motivated, eager to provide an exceptional customer experience, and possess an excitement for libraries and the services they provide to their community.
     Job Description: Up-to-date on current trends and practices in the field of librarianship. Thorough knowledge of library technology, general public reading interests, and reference services. Ability to discuss books effectively. Business resource familiarity a plus. Coordinates collection development and management. Assesses, recommends, and maintains databases and electronic resources. Analyzes and addresses patrons’ needs tactfully and courteously. Educates patrons on library utilization. Plans, implements, and oversees programs in conjunction with other staff members. Creates promotional materials and library displays. Manages publicity, including social media, to promote library services and events. Must be technologically proficient. Ability to teach basic computer instruction. Performs community outreach with area agencies and businesses. Coordinates volunteers and supervises library pages. Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of library services, policies, and procedures. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, subordinates, and peers. Prepares statistical reports. Participates in professional activities and professional development. Effective written and oral communication skills. Manages or assists with special projects.
     Requirements: M.L.S. or equivalent from an ALA accredited college or university plus 3-5 years public library experience. The successful candidate is expected to work two evenings a week and Saturdays in rotation. This is a 35hr/week position and part of a collective bargaining unit.
     While performing the duties of this job the employee must stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch and reach with hands and arms. Employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move 25 pounds.
     Salary: $65,848
