Director of Special Programs (part-time) - Windsor Public Library has an excellent opportunity for a
part-time Director of Special Programs with experience working with
children. To become a successful member of our busy Kidspace team, the
ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to serving children and
their caregivers through programming. He/she will assist the Head of
Children’s Services in the essential functions of our Kidspace Dept. and
work closely with the other members of the Kidspace team. The
candidate will work to develop and run a variety of Kidspace programs
including preschool storytime and specialty programs for children
between the ages of 0 and 11 and be able to provide reference assistance
and readers advisory to children and adults at our busy Kidspace desk.
Additional duties may include writing both in-house and local publicity
for Kidspace programs, develop readings lists for children and
caregivers, providing computer assistance to children, and additional
tasks as needed.

diverse customers and coworkers; have the ability to manage changing
priorities and meet deadlines; and be able to work in a fast paced,
customer service environment with patience, flexibility and attention to
detail.
Minimum requirements: Bachelor’s degree; plus one (1) or more
years’ experience working with children, experience working in a public
library preferred. Be comfortable working with computers, technology and
social media; be proficient with MS Office Suite, Internet, and other
programs as needed; familiarity with library specific applications
(e.g., Innovative Interfaces ILS) a plus.
Scheduled hours are Tuesday 9:00AM-2:00PM, Wednesday 1:00PM-9:00PM
and Friday 9:00AM-5:00PM, and work one Saturday a month in lieu of
another shift for a total of 20 hours per week. Salary is $18-$22/hr.,
depending on qualifications and experience.
