Part-time Educational Assistant, Librarian - Housatonic Community College, Bridgeport. SEARCH EXTENDED. Up to 12 hours/week. ANTICIPATED START DATE: September / October 2019.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s
degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited program. Experience in
the field required. Excellent interpersonal skills including written and
oral communication are required, allowing applicant to work effectively
with faculty, staff, and students. Must have the ability to work
independently and collaboratively. Must be able to push and lift objects
up to 20 lbs. SUBSTITUTION ALLOWED: Applicants who do not meet the

responsibilities of this position. Exceptions to the degree
requirements may be made for compelling reasons.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in a higher education setting.
Experience in teaching and instruction. Work as reference librarian.
Experience with LibGuides and LibWizard, and Library Outreach.
Experience in planning and conducting Information. Literacy Assessment.
Graphic design skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the direct supervision of the Director of
Library Services, the Part-time Librarian: Assists students in library
research skills on an individual basis. Provides bibliographic
instruction. Works as reference librarian. Provides assistance to
faculty and staff as needed. Other duties as assigned.
The part-time position requires a flexible work schedule, including possible evenings and weekends.
HOURLY RATE: $36.49 per hour (subject to bargaining unit changes)
