Library Media Specialist - Reed Intermediate School, Newtown Public Schools. Starting Date: August 2019. Remuneration: In accordance
with contract agreement. Placement upon appropriate step of salary
schedule, contingent upon qualifications.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Develops and implements lessons for all students
that support the library media curriculum. Collaborates with staff
members to support and promote integration of information literacy into
content area instruction. Supports, schedules and manages library staff
and parent volunteers. Delivers technology-embedded instruction.
Provides guidance in the selection of appropriate reading material for
curricular requirements and recreational reading. Manages the library
collection: maintenance/repair, inventory, and scheduling. Embraces the
cognitive/social developmental stage of young adolescence. Promotes a
positive school culture.
QUALIFICATIONS: Possess or be eligible for Library Media Connecticut certification (048, 062).
