Full-Time Youth Services Librarian - The Brookfield Library. $48,000 – $52,000, based on experience. Full time, 35
hours per week. The Youth Services Librarian will be responsible for
providing a variety of library services for youth, primarily ages 11-19,
planning, promoting and implementing programs, services and acquiring
resources, as well as coordinating with and assisting in other areas of
the library. Coordinate the planning and implementation of library
programs for youth. Select materials for acquisition and maintain
collection for ages 11-19. Manage the writing, editing, and preparation
of communications regarding library programs for release to the media
and public. Prepare materials for special projects for the Director.
Increase use of the library and its resources by researching community’s
library needs, analyze results, and recommending applications and
services to meet those needs. Establish a cooperative relationship with
other town organizations and local schools. Develop and conduct programs
for youth and parents, while encouraging reading, viewing, and
listening skills, and the use of library facilities and materials. Serve
on the Library Management Team. Stay up-to-date by attending
conferences and workshops as allowed by budgetary constraints,
participate in professional organizations and roundtables. Perform other
related duties as required.
Skills Required: Excellent organizational, communication, writing
and technology skills. Graphic design ability as it relates to creating
press releases and flyers, etc. to promote the library. Ability to
interact professionally with multiple levels of the general public.
Education Required: MLS from an ALA accredited library school required.
