Substitute/Part-Time Reference Librarians - The Westport Library is seeking several part-time
reference librarians who will play an important role in helping make our
newly renovated Library a stimulating place for people of all ages to
engage, connect and utilize all the best resources. He/she will be an
expert at teaching patrons and staff how to use technology from
e-readers to on-line databases; will design and deliver “how-to” and
other innovative trainings; will develop content for the web and create
resource guides. Experience with Libguides is a plus. This is the ideal
position for an engaging professional who is a sleuth at heart and
enjoys working with patrons to understands their needs and enjoys
connecting them with the right solutions.
The successful candidates will work side by side with people in the
community to showcase the best assets of each library patron. The
selected candidates will have an MLS degree from an ALA accredited
university; strong readers’ advisory skills; experience in a library or
similar knowledge-based environment; advanced computer skills;
experience developing and delivering creative programs and will be
excited to develop and learn in a fast-paced changing environment.
A willingness to help and work in any area of the library, strong
research skills, outstanding interpersonal and strong verbal and written
communication skills is required. The ideal candidates will be
available to work 10 to 19 hours a week including some evenings and
weekends, as required. Recent graduates and MLS students in their last
semester are encouraged to apply. The Westport Library pays the CLA
