Library Assistant / Technology Assistant - Willington Public Library. NATURE OF WORK: This position reports to and receives general
instructions from the Director. An employee in this position will be
working in all areas of library related duties and must have a good
understanding of library practices.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Opens and/or closes the library as requested.
Assists in general circulation, reference duties, generates patron
cards. Conducts the majority of Library cataloging and processing.
Creates and maintains displays for all age ranges. Repairs and mends
materials as needed. Performs clerical and related duties as designated
by the Director. Creates MARC records for OPAC. Processes overdue
notices. Assists patrons with OPAC and in finding materials. Conducts
technology and computer management, updates, and repair. Assists with
social media and PR as instructed by the Library Director.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of
education and Library experience. Ability to assist with aspects of PR
and social media, as requested. Knowledge of computers, software, and
technology. Proficiency with standard technology, such as the Microsoft
Office and Google suites. Knowledge of library materials and resources.
Knowledge of current reading trends. Knowledge of the objectives of a
public library system. Skill in the use of office, audiovisual and
computer equipment. Ability to deal with the public in a courteous and
tactful manner. Willingness and ability to work with all sectors of the
community.
SALARY AND BENEFITS: Based on budgeted funds. Positions is 20 hours
per week, $11.55/hr. If regularly scheduled hours fall on a scheduled
closing, employee will be paid for those hours.
