Library Assistant II - Canterbury Public Library. Description: Under the supervision of the
Library Director, the Library Assistant II provides customer service and
a wide range of clerical duties. This involves a large amount of time
at the front desk. As such, the Library Assistant II must be outgoing
and friendly in a variety of situations.
Essential Job Functions: Routine library services
including, but not limited to, circulation, processing library cards,
collecting fees, and shelving materials. Assists the public in the use
of the photocopiers, public access computers, and library catalog.
Coordinates ILLs and catalogs new materials. Organizes programs for
adults and assists with book clubs. Supervises Library Assistant I.
Basic Qualifications: Must have High School
diploma or equivalent. Must be able to communicate effectively, both
in-person and in writing. Must have advanced computer proficiency. Must
be able to follow written and oral instruction. Must have prior customer
service experience. Must be extremely organized.
Physical Qualifications: Must be able to carry up
to 20 lbs. and push/pull a loaded book cart weighing up to 200 lbs. Must
be able to bend and stretch to reach low and high shelves. Must be able
to stand for up to 3 hours.
Compensation/Benefits: $16 per hour. 23-25 hours a week. This position is not eligible for benefits.
