Educational Assistant, Reference & Instruction Librarian (2 PT positions) - Gateway Community College. Two Part-time,
non-permanent positions. ANTICIPATED STARTING DATE: Fall 2018. This
position is scheduled to end on June 30, 2019.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: ALA-accredited MLS (Master of
Library Science) or MLIS (Master of Library & Information Science)
degree together with from one to four years of related experience
including up to two years of experience in leading or supervising
others; or a combination of education, training and experience which
would lead to the competencies required for successful performance of
the position's essential duties. The Librarian is required to have:
demonstrated ability to perform the full range of professional
librarianship with strong competencies in public services, reference,
technical services, collection development, information technology and
information literacy skills and instruction in effective use of library
resources in a higher education environment; demonstrated ability to
lead and train support staff.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Customer service oriented;
familiarity with the community college philosophy and the ability to
work within a busy and culturally diverse college population.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Excellent interpersonal,
oral, and written communication and technical skills; fluent with print
and electronic library resources; classroom teaching experience; ability
to work collaboratively in a team environment and experience in an
academic library setting are preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the supervision of the Director
of Library Services, the Reference & Instruction Librarian is
accountable for providing useful and helpful support to the learning
mission of the College through effective performance in these essential
result areas, as assigned: Public and Reference Services; Instruction
and Circulation. Responsibilities may from time to time include such
other duties as are consistent with the BOR Librarian job description.
SALARY: $34.59 per hour. Hours are flexible but limited to 17 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
