Head of Reference - University of Hartford Libraries

Head of Reference - The University of Hartford Libraries seeks a Head of Reference Services to oversee the daily operations of the Reference Services and Circulation Departments to ensure the needs of patrons are met in a timely and efficient manner. Provides formal classroom instruction as well as individual "as needed" assistance in information retrieval involving both print and on-line resources. Plans, develops, coordinates and presents customized classroom instruction, including maintenance and updating of the online tutorials. Provides management, guidance and evaluation to staff in both the Reference and Circulation departments. Develops and maintains both print and on-line collections used in reference, business and communication research. Establishes, cultivates and maintains formal and informal relationships with faculty and administrative departments. Provides leadership in the creative development, revision and implementation of Library policies and procedures that directly impact and enhance the libraries. Serves on Libraries and University committees as necessary and appropriate. Master's Degree of Library Science from an A.L.A.-accredited institution required; second master's degree preferred. 5-7 years experience required.
