Deputy Town Librarian - Fairfield Public Library

Deputy Town Librarian - The Fairfield Public Library, located in Fairfield, CT serves a well-educated, affluent town of 58,000 through its recently renovated Main Library and one Branch Library and a staff of approximately 30 full and 100 part time employees. The successful candidate will have demonstrated leadership, organizational skills and management ability, possess excellent written and oral communication skills, have a strong commitment to public service and customer service, bring energy and enthusiasm to the job and relate well to the public and the library staff. Duties of the assistant director include: assisting the director in the management, supervision and administration of the library; coordination of selection and acquisition of all print and non-print materials; management of the materials budget; supervision of main library building maintenance; supervision of circulation services; coordination of continuing education and staff development; participation in overall library programming efforts and development of programs as needed; collection of library statistics and reporting; rotation on public service desks, including nights and weekends. A Master s Degree in Library Science is required and at least 5 years experience in library administration. Salary range is $68,518 to $86,745. Excellent benefit package including pension plan.
