Catalog Librarian, University of Bridgeport

Catalog Librarian - The Magnus Wahlstrom Library, University of Bridgeport, has an immediate opening for a Catalog Librarian. Under the direction of the Systems Librarian and Head, Technical Services, this professional performs original and copy cataloging - including Dewey conversion/ reclassification - using OCLC Connexion, AACR2R, LC subject headings, classification system, and authority control, and the local Voyager online system. He/She assists with MARC records and serial maintenance, the development/updating of cataloging and processing manuals, maintaining cataloging statistics, and assisting in the training/supervision of department staff. Duties also include serving at the Reference Desk on a regular as well as "as needed" basis, as library liaison and collection development specialist to assigned subject areas, and as back-up to the Systems Librarian as assigned. The successful candidate will have a strong service-orientation, interpersonal skills, and work ethic, the willingness and flexibility to meet changing library and University needs, and accuracy/thoroughness/professionalism in work performed. The position requires an ALA/MLS or foreign equivalent, minimum one year OCLC cataloging and local online system experience, and reference experience demonstrating a knowledge of electronic and print reference sources. Voyager and academic library experience preferred.
